Extraordinary NATO-Ukraine Council Meeting Held in Brussels
An extraordinary meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council was held in Brussels at the level of political advisors. The meeting was convened at Ukraine's request following mass strikes by Russia against Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha wrote on social media before the meeting: “We expect a targeted discussion on joint steps in response to Russia's refusal to engage in peace efforts and the escalation of terrorism against Ukrainians.”
Sybiha expressed gratitude to NATO and all allies who continue to provide decisive support to Ukraine and meaningful peace efforts.
Political advisors from NATO member countries typically do not make decisions during such meetings; instead, they discuss details, coordinate positions, and prepare text for documents. Although Ukraine is not yet a member of the North Atlantic Alliance, it closely coordinates its security activities with the organization.
