Zakharova on Ukraine's Security Guarantees
Providing security guarantees to Ukraine should not be a condition but rather a result of peaceful resolution, stated Maria Zakharova, the official spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
She added, “The options proposed by the West regarding security guarantees for Ukraine are unilateral and based on the containment of Russia.”
“For us, Ukraine is a fraternal people, but for the West, Ukraine is a steel creature. We proceed from the fact that the agreement should include demilitarization, denazification, Ukraine’s neutral and non-nuclear status, recognition of territorial realities, ensuring the rights of the Russian language and Russian-speaking population, and stopping the persecution of Catholic Orthodoxy,” Zakharova stated.
