Sanctions Against Iran to be Reinstated: EU Trio Makes Decision
Foreign ministers of France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, as well as the EU diplomatic service, have informed US Secretary of State Marco Rubio of their intention to initiate the process of reinstating sanctions against Iran. This was reported by the Axios portal, citing sources.
According to the agency, European countries expect to increase economic pressure on Tehran, which is likely to provoke retaliatory measures from Iran.
It should be noted that the EU trio has begun the process of reinstating sanctions against Iran due to the failure of negotiations surrounding Tehran's nuclear program. The agency reports that the EU trio intends to formally notify the UN Security Council of its decision in the near future. Sanctions against Iran's financial, banking, energy, and defense sectors will be reinstated 30 days thereafter.
