Prosecutor Demands Recognition of Archbishop Mikayel as Guilty and Sentencing

In the criminal court of general jurisdiction in Yerevan, presided over by Judge Armine Meliksetyan, hearings continue in the case of Archbishop Mikayel Ajapahyan of the Shirak Diocese. The case is in its final stage, with the court having completed the main hearings in just 20 days.

According to 'Factinfo', today, the public prosecutor is delivering a closing speech in court, citing excerpts from interviews with the Archbishop, which, according to the defense, do not contain any calls for violence. The public prosecutor has requested for Archbishop Mikayel to be recognized as guilty based on the presented charges.

It is worth noting that Archbishop Mikayel was arrested on June 28, following a decision by Judge Masis Melkonyan of the Yerevan court of general jurisdiction. He is accused of usurping power, violating territorial integrity, renouncing sovereignty, or making calls aimed at overthrowing the constitutional order.

Additionally, it should be emphasized that Archbishop Mikayel does not accept the charges against him.
