Germany Opens Europe's Largest Ammunition Factory

Germany is opening Europe’s largest ammunition factory, as reported by Bloomberg. Rheinmetall's company is set to build similar facilities in other NATO countries, thereby creating a pan-European defense ecosystem.

Present at the inauguration was NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who stated that such facilities are essential for the security of NATO, to maintain support for Ukraine, and to deter any future aggression.

The factory will have the capacity to produce 350,000 artillery shells annually when fully operational by 2027. The facility comprises two buildings: one for the production of 155 mm artillery shells and the other for loading, assembly, and packaging. The investments made into the factory total 500 million euros.
