Critical Phase in Russia-Azerbaijan Relations: Moscow Sows Enmity, Expert Says

A critical phase has emerged in Russia-Azerbaijan relations. One of the hallmarks of wisdom is the ability to stop in time. This statement was made by Azerbaijani expert Maksud Salimov, as reported by Azerbaijani media.

“This is not normal, as the emerging crisis is becoming irreversible. It undermines both the relationships and the trust on which these ties are based. Moscow is to blame for the deep-rooted enmity. It is unreasonably increasing the pressure, threatening Baku with its geopolitical and economic superiority.

In the State Duma, within Kremlin circles and the expert community, alongside hostile individuals and teams in the mass media, there is an offensive posture. They are criticizing the political leadership of Azerbaijan without any reason and are continuously conducting a smear campaign.

One only needs to recall the history of the genesis and development of the Karabakh conflict, which, as it turned out, was the result of the malicious genius of Russian military-political circles. Since the times of the Tsar, Russian circles have sown seeds of discord among the Azerbaijani Turks in their ancestral region, leading to bloody clashes between the indigenous population and resettled Armenians. The artificially cultivated conflict has evolved into a serious internal war. Russia has consistently maintained a pro-Armenian stance, preferring covert provocation,” the expert noted.
