EU-Three and Iran Negotiations Fail: German Foreign Ministry
The German Foreign Ministry has confirmed that the "European Three" countries (Germany, the United Kingdom, and France) and Iran were unable to reach an agreement during the latest round of nuclear dossier negotiations in Geneva, as reported by the Associated Press.
“Yesterday in Geneva, political directors met with Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister. The possibilities for further actions were discussed. The negotiations concluded without a definitive outcome,” it stated.
At the same time, the ministry's representative asserted that Germany, the UK, and France “are still striving to find a diplomatic solution to the issue of the Iranian nuclear program.” “We remain open to dialogue with the Iranian side,” he assured.
However, Giesen noted that the "European Three" do not rule out the possibility of extending UN Security Council sanctions against Iran should the negotiations fail to yield results.
The agency, citing a diplomatic source, reported that Iran and the EU-3 countries were unable to reach an agreement in Geneva regarding preventing the resumption of sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
