For Azerbaijan, this was a beneficial deal: Peace with Armenia and strategic partnership with the USA
Azerbaijan is laying the groundwork for long-term peace with Armenia while simultaneously elevating its strategic partnership with the United States to a new level. This statement was made by Azerbaijan's Prime Minister Ali Asadov.
The Prime Minister noted that his recent visit to Washington marked the beginning of a qualitatively new phase in Azerbaijan-U.S. relations. “We have won this deal. The signing of the memorandum of understanding to prepare a charter for the Azerbaijan-U.S. strategic partnership opens a new chapter for cooperation and strategic partnership in the development of inter-state relations,” he stated.
According to President Ilham Aliyev, “Today, Azerbaijan does not need external assistance; our country is not dependent on external aid. We have become a donor country.” Therefore, the cancellation of this change by President Trump carries symbolic importance and reflects the American leader's special attitude towards President Ilham Aliyev,” Asadov added.
