We Cannot Demand That Ukraine Discuss Territorial Concessions: Wadafuol
The German Foreign Minister Johan Wadafuol has stated that any potential agreement to end the war must not become a "dictatorial peace" at the expense of Ukraine, as reported by DW.
He emphasized during an address at Germany's open government day that Ukraine's future security guarantees must be "very close" to NATO membership. "We cannot demand that Ukraine seriously considers territorial concessions if it is not receiving real security guarantees from as many countries as possible to ensure at least the remainder of its territory is safe," the German minister's words were quoted by the dpa agency.
Wadafuol expressed hope that focusing on such security guarantees could eventually persuade Putin as well. “In that case, it could lay the groundwork for us in Europe to finally achieve peace again,” the German minister remarked. He noted that currently around 30 countries, including Japan, have expressed willingness to support Ukraine.
