Trial for the Brutal Murder of a Mother and Two Children in Pemzashen Begins Anew Behind Closed Doors

The trial for the particularly brutal murder of a mother and her two children in Pemzashen has entered its "second phase", conducted in a closed-door format at the request of the defense. This high-profile criminal case has been under the jurisdiction of Judge Artush Gabrielyan of the Yerevan General Jurisdiction Criminal Court for nearly two years, where it was in the main trial phase with witness examinations nearing completion. However, Judge Gabrielyan's powers were suspended due to grounds for criminal prosecution, and the case has now been reassigned to Judge Roman Smbatyan, where it is again being tried from the beginning.

According to ''Factinfo'', the case is still in the phase of examining written evidence, yet it is noteworthy that the proceedings are taking place behind closed doors at the request of the defense, despite the same evidence having been examined in public during Judge Gabrielyan's tenure.

To recall, the horrific murder occurred on November 9, 2022, in the village of Pemzashen, Shirak Province, where three bodies were discovered in one of the village's homes.
