Send Peacekeepers to Gaza: Irish President Appeals to UN
The President of Ireland has called on the United Nations to send peacekeepers to Gaza.
“There is a seventh article in the UN Charter which states that with certain support from the UN General Assembly, even if the UN Security Council vetoes it, the Secretary-General can send troops to ensure humanitarian access,” Michael Higgins told RTE state radio.
Higgins referred to the situation in Gaza as a “dominion of irresponsibility.” He remarked, “This is an unusual moment when three members of the Israeli cabinet are openly showing interest in illegal actions without regard for international law.”
