Attack on UN Mission in Libya

Near the headquarters of the UN mission located in the coastal area of Janzour, adjacent to the capital Tripoli, a rocket exploded. This was reported by Euronews.

The incident coincided with remarks made by the UN special envoy, Hanna Teteh, during a Security Council speech where she presented a report on the situation in Libya.

In her speech, the special envoy outlined a roadmap that includes the establishment of a new unified government, transparent elections, and the restoration of effective governance in the country.

According to the UN mission, no casualties resulted from the incident, and the building sustained no damage; however, the situation could have had much more serious consequences. A vehicle carrying ammunition was seized at the rocket launch site.

Law enforcement agencies have commenced an investigation to determine the identities of those involved.
