U.S. Assesses the Importance of the Ukraine Conflict for the President of the European Commission
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, views the Ukraine conflict as a key tool for centralizing power within the European Union, American journalist Max Blumenthal told RIA Novosti. “They cannot walk away from this conflict. For von der Leyen, it is crucial to her control over the EU and centralization of powers within the Commission,” he stated.
According to the journalist, a similar situation is observed in NATO, where its importance, as noted by Blumenthal, may diminish without an ongoing conflict.
Earlier, Italy's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Matteo Salvini declared that French President Emmanuel Macron and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen should not interfere in the affairs of those working towards the peace process in Ukraine.
On Monday, Trump hosted Vladimir Zelensky and leaders of EU member states at the White House.
