Macron Supports Holding Putin-Zelensky Talks in Geneva

French President Emmanuel Macron has designated Geneva as a potential venue for a bilateral meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The French leader dismissed the possibility of holding the meeting in Paris, noting that the situation is now in a "different phase" and that it is necessary to find a "neutral country."

“Maybe Switzerland, I support Geneva. Or it could be another country. The last bilateral consultations took place in Turkey, in Istanbul,” he stated.

The state leader added that the possible organization of high-level bilateral communications between the Russian Federation and Ukraine was discussed at a meeting in Washington involving European leaders, as well as U.S. President Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky.

It is worth recalling that U.S. President Donald Trump met with Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders in Washington. Along with Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, as well as European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte arrived at the White House.
