Negotiations Between Iran and IAEA Representatives May Take Place in the Coming Days

Negotiations between representatives of Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) may take place in the coming days. This was announced at a press conference by the spokesperson of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Esmail Baghaei. “Negotiations began last week, and a round of talks between Iran and the IAEA will likely occur in the coming days,” Baghaei stated.

He referred to the visit of the IAEA Deputy Director General, noting that the purpose of the visit was to develop a format for how Iran and the IAEA would cooperate following attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities by Israel and the United States. He also indicated that Iran may take measures to ensure the peaceful nature of its nuclear program if unjust sanctions are lifted.

“We have stated that we are ready to take a series of measures to guarantee the peaceful nature of our nuclear program, provided that unjust sanctions are lifted,” he emphasized.

Baghaei also mentioned that three European countries—Great Britain, Germany, and France—are in contact with Iran, and Tehran does not rule out the possibility of another round of negotiations; however, no decision has been made on the matter at this time.

It is worth noting that on July 2, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed a law to suspend cooperation with the IAEA. On July 22, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Iran does not rule out the possibility of agency inspectors returning to its territory in the future.
