Zelensky Calls for Stricter Sanctions Against Russia in Conversation with Trump

Today, following a conversation with President Trump, we coordinated our positions with European leaders. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on his Telegram channel.

“The positions are clear. We need to achieve real peace that will last and not just become another pause between Russian invasions. We must stop the killings as soon as possible, cease fire both on the battlefield and in the skies, and against our port infrastructure. We need to free all Ukrainian military and civilian prisoners and return the children abducted by Russia. Thousands of our people are still in captivity, and they all must return home. We must continue to put pressure on Russia as long as the aggression and occupation continue,” he noted.

“During my conversation with President Trump, I said that sanctions should be tightened if there is no trilateral meeting or if Russia avoids a fair end to the war. Sanctions are an effective tool. We need to reliably and sustainably guarantee security with the participation of Europe and the United States. All important issues for Ukraine should be discussed with the participation of Ukraine, and no issue, including territorial ones, can be resolved without Ukraine,” added Zelensky.

“Thank you to the partners who are helping. Today, an important statement was made by European leaders, reinforcing our position. Let’s continue to work together—Europeans, Americans, and all those around the world who want peace and stability in international relations,” concluded Zelensky.
