Stopping the Ukraine Conflict is the Most Difficult Challenge: Trump on His Meeting with Putin

US President Donald Trump is uncertain whether a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin will lead to an immediate ceasefire agreement in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, but he believes there is a 25 percent chance that the negotiations will end unsuccessfully. He expressed these thoughts to reporters.

"Stopping the Ukraine conflict is probably the hardest thing to do," Trump stated. The US President noted that he intends to allow Russia and Ukraine the opportunity to discuss the resolution independently.

Following his meeting with Putin, Trump plans to call Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for a second meeting. Three potential locations for the meeting are being considered, with Trump suggesting that the easiest option would also be to hold it in Alaska.

He added that he is the toughest opponent that Putin has ever dealt with, and the Russian President is aware of this.

Trump confirmed that the US plans to impose sanctions if the meeting with Putin in Alaska ends in failure. Earlier, the White House stated that Trump does not wish to impose new sanctions against Russia, emphasizing that his priority is diplomacy.
