I Hope to Join Samvel Karapetyan's Legal Team at the Next Hearing, Amsterdam
“This is not a way to greet the 21st century; this is not a way to welcome the era of artificial intelligence. This is a return to Stalinism, this is a return to show trials. I am the person who has seen more show trials than any of you. This is a show trial,” stated the renowned lawyer and international human rights advocate Robert Amsterdam during a conversation with journalists in the courtyard of the Anti-Corruption Court.
He also addressed the question of when businessman Samvel Karapetyan will be released from custody. He mentioned that first he would wait for the court's decision to be announced this evening, and then plans would be made regarding what can be done both in Armenia and abroad.
“Mr. Karapetyan has excellent lawyers in Armenia. I have met with them multiple times. They are a wonderful group of people. I have complete confidence in them, as well as in the Karapetyan family. It will be an honor for me to work with them on international matters. I hope to join the legal team at the next hearing,” he said.
