Can Washington Force Ukraine to Make Territorial Concessions? US Vice President
The United States intends to end the war in Ukraine by exploring the possibility of a settlement based on the existing front line. This was stated by US Vice President J.D. Vance in an interview with Fox News.
"We are halting funding for combat operations in Ukraine. Our goal is to achieve a peaceful resolution to this conflict," Vance emphasized, noting that the upcoming meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump could represent "great progress" in American diplomacy.
Although Trump is uncertain about the success of the meeting with Putin, he, according to Vance, intends to provide an opportunity for diplomacy and try to find a compromise.
"We are looking for a solution that will be acceptable to both Russia and Ukraine. Both sides are likely to remain partially dissatisfied," said the Vice President.
Additionally, as Vance noted, the United States is working on organizing a meeting between Putin and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
The US Vice President also mentioned that Trump is discussing the possibility of imposing tariffs on the import of Russian oil from China. However, no final decision has yet been made on this issue.
