Lukashenko Is Not Planning to Run for Another Term
The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has stated that he does not plan to run for another term. He made this announcement during an interview with the American magazine TIME.
The 70-year-old leader claims that he has not wanted to run again in the elections scheduled for winter 2025, but felt 'forced' to do so to avoid creating the impression that he is fleeing.
Lukashenko also added that his younger son, Nikolai, will not be his legal successor.
