Lake in Southern Turkey on Brink of Drying Up
The Eber Lake, located in the southern Turkish city of Konya, is on the brink of drying up. Once a habitat for 147 species of birds and home to various types of fish, the water level of the lake is gradually diminishing, reaching a critical level. This has been reported by ermenihaber.am.
Professor Ugur Cengiz Erismis from Afyon Kocatepe University (AKÜ) explains that the situation in the lake is attributed to the reckless use of water by humans. According to him, without appropriate measures being taken, the lake may completely dry up within three years.
“Legislative regulations need to be implemented,” Erismis warned.
