Kamchatka Earthquake Declared Most Powerful in Recorded History by Regional Governor

Authorities in the Kamchatka region have deemed the 8.8 magnitude earthquake that struck at 8:00 AM as the most powerful in the entire instrumental period.

Governor Vladimir Solodov stated, "This is the most powerful earthquake in the entire instrumental period, with a magnitude of 8.8. Regular, prolonged aftershocks are expected."

The regional leader urged the public to remain calm and avoid panic, stating, "Trust only official information. All emergency services are operating in heightened mode."
