Man Opens Fire, Kills 6 People, and Commits Suicide in New York
In a Midtown New York skyscraper, home to various financial firms, a man opened fire, killing 6 individuals, including a 36-year-old officer of the New York Police Department, before taking his own life. This has been reported by local law enforcement.
The shooter, 27-year-old Shane Tamura, traveled by car from Las Vegas to New York over three days. He parked a black BMW on Park Avenue, armed with an M4-style rifle, entered the building’s lobby, and immediately shot an officer.
Afterward, he killed a woman hiding behind a column, followed by the fatal shooting of a security guard who had taken cover behind a desk, and another man present in the lobby.
The assailant acted alone. An investigation is ongoing to clarify the circumstances of the incident. Preliminary reports indicate that Tamura did not have a significant criminal history.
