What Israel and Syria Agreed Upon in Paris

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), under the mediation of the United States, the parties have reached an agreement on the following points:

  • The issue of Es-Suwayda will be transferred to the Americans, who will be responsible for monitoring the implementation of the agreement's conditions.
  • All tribal forces and public security forces will be withdrawn beyond the borders of the Druze villages.
  • The Druze formations will clear all villages to ensure the absence of tribal forces from Damascus and government troops.
  • Establishment of local councils from the residents of Es-Suwayda, which will take over service provision.
  • Creation of a committee to document violations, which will direct its reports to the American side.
  • Disarmament of Quneitra and Daraa and the formation of local security committees from the residents of these areas, under the condition of the absence of heavy weaponry.

It is also noted that entry of any organization or institution related to the Syrian government into Es-Suwayda has been prohibited, while entry for UN organizations is allowed.
