New Changes in Military Service in Russia

A new conscription model in Russia will regulate the work of military commissariats and relieve them of overloaded duties. At the same time, the number of conscripts in the army will not increase, said Andrey Kartapolov, head of the State Duma's Defense Committee, to RBC.

According to him, the new conscription model will make the process of military registration more convenient for citizens. Conscripts will be able to undergo medical examinations, professional selection, and other procedures throughout the year without rushing.

The head of the Defense Committee noted that the number of conscripts has remained roughly the same in recent years, while the number of military personnel has increased thanks to contract servicemen. “The current system is outdated and does not meet the realities of the digital age. We face challenges every time due to new orders and procedures,” he stated.
