Zaharova: Macron's Slap to French Veterans is Interesting

In response to French Prime Minister François Bayrou's remarks, Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, has issued a rather strong reaction, as reported by RIA Novosti.

“In France, two important symbols of dignity and morality are banned,” noted the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson. According to the diplomat, the French authorities are willing to sacrifice Christianity and the victory achieved in World War II.

“It is interesting; all of this is a real slap in the face of French veterans, whom French President Emmanuel Macron recently hypocritically congratulated on the anniversary of Victory. It will be interesting to see what the Catholic Church in Rome and veterans' organizations in France will say about this,” stated Maria Zakharova.
