There Is No Revenue Shortfall in the Metro, Do Not Create False Narratives: Avinyan

During a working consultation at the Yerevan City Hall, the head of the Revenue Accounting and Collection Department, Davit Hakobyan, stated that the overall revenue shortfall from transportation fees amounts to 3 billion drams. “Essentially, the revenue shortfall pertains to bus fares,” he said.

For the period from January to June 2025, a total of 45 billion 108 million 792 thousand 300 drams was planned from own revenues, but only 39 billion 939 million 589 thousand 200 drams was actually collected, leading to an execution rate of 88.5% and a shortfall of around 5 billion drams. The main reason for the shortfall is related to transportation fees, including the approximately 3 billion drams collected by the metro.

Mayor Tigran Avinyan emphasized that false narratives should not be created: “Mr. Hakobyan, there is no revenue shortfall for the metro; it is very important to clarify this. The metro’s allocation did not come to the city budget as planned; it was directly allocated to the metro and has remained there,” Avinyan stated. He added that the financial shortfall, after technical adjustments, stands at 5.1 billion drams.
