Clause on the Return of Armenian Prisoners of War Not Mandatory in Peace Agreement
The Deputy Head of the Prime Minister’s Office, Taron Chakhoyan, stated in a conversation with reporters that the clause regarding the return of Armenian prisoners of war in the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan does not need to be emphasized, as the signing of the peace agreement itself implies that the prisoners will return.
Since 2021, a peace agreement has been signed, yet Azerbaijan has not withdrawn from the occupied territories in Jermuk and Gegharkunik regions, while Armenian prisoners of war have been held in Baku's jails for three years. When asked about this, Chakhoyan responded, “Why do you start from 2021? Start from the 90s.”
