Putin Discusses Roots of Conflicts Between the West and Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin has discussed the roots of conflicts between the West and Russia. A segment of the interview was published by journalist Pavel Zarubin on his Telegram channel.

“The West decided, well, the Soviet Union no longer exists, why should we follow the rules related to Russia that does not have the potential power it once had? Fine, now we will create something for ourselves as we want, and live by the rules we have invented for ourselves, ignoring our interests,” said Putin.

“It became clear for Russia that it would not be taken into account until it declared itself a sovereign state that can protect its future,” the Russian president added.
