European Parliament Votes Against No-Confidence Motion Against Ursula von der Leyen
The majority of the European Parliament has voted against a no-confidence motion against European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. This was announced on the official website of the European Parliament.
Out of those participating in the vote, only 175 voted in favor of the proposal for no confidence. Meanwhile, 360 MEPs opposed it, and 18 abstained.
It was noted that if Ursula von der Leyen had lost the vote, she would have been forced to resign. One of the reasons for the no-confidence proposal against her was a scandal that emerged around communications between her and the then CEO of Pfizer during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, the initiative's author, Piperean, accused the European Commission of interfering in the Romanian presidential elections.
