Turkey's Foreign Ministry Accuses France
Turkey's Foreign Ministry has accused France of interfering in judicial matters. "We firmly reject the statement made on July 7 by France's Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, which constitutes interference in the ongoing trials in our country," the statement reads.
The Turkish side called on France to respect the independence of Turkey's judiciary, refrain from politically motivated comments, and focus on its internal issues. The Foreign Ministry also pointed out that the leader of the opposition in France has been sentenced to imprisonment and barred from participating in elections, while trials against certain mayors are ongoing.
