Iran’s Ambassador in Armenia on Fabricated Concepts Violating Territorial Integrity
The recent communiqué adopted at the summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization contains certain provisions that utilize fabricated concepts violating the territorial integrity of Armenia, which do not align with Iran's position. This was stated by Mehdi Sobhani, the Iranian ambassador to Armenia, in an interview with Armenpress.
Iran has expressed its reservations about this statement in an official letter to the Economic Cooperation Organization. The ambassador noted that this declaration merely reflects the views of the summit's president and does not necessarily reflect the positions of the participating countries.
“Just as we expressed our position regarding the declaration recently published in Istanbul on the cooperation of Islamic states, some provisions included in this declaration, which encompass fabricated concepts of territorial claims against the Republic of Armenia, contradict the fundamental positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran towards the friendly and neighboring Republic of Armenia and cannot be accepted. The Islamic Republic of Iran continues to support the peace negotiation process between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan and emphasizes the importance of signing a peace agreement, the provisions of which have been confirmed by both parties. We have conveyed our reservations regarding this statement to the Economic Cooperation Organization in an official letter,” said Mehdi Sobhani.
