Let the Radios Pull Back: Alen Simonyan on Reactions from Russia

Alen Simonyan, the President of the National Assembly, addressed the recent developments in Armenia, including the arrest of businessman Samvel Karapetyan, as well as the reactions coming from Russia.

“They probably watched their degenerate presenters' programs and got the impression that this seriously damages Armenian-Russian relations, and indeed the speeches of their degenerate presenters are genuinely harming Armenian-Russian relations,” he said.

Simonyan also commented on statements made by Russian presenters and representatives from the entertainment industry regarding the arrest. “Perhaps Samvel Karapetyan gifted a packet with 30-50 thousand dollars, and now they say he is our friend. To whom did he give money? They sang at his wedding; they are his friends. Now, are they coming out in support of him? Let the radios pull back, focus on their own work, and not interfere in our country's internal affairs. I believe we must seriously consider the issue of halting the broadcasting of Russian TV channels in Armenia because their programs have long been shut down in Armenia; their entry into Armenia has been blocked. But if the state channels allow themselves to interfere in Armenia's internal affairs, perhaps we should at least close off their access to our citizens’ homes. They are at least affecting our people's nerves. Another question is whether it provides us with any benefit because if they are telling tales that the US special forces were in the National Assembly or the government, our people know what is happening in Armenia and understands that they are lying,” the National Assembly President added.

Regarding Lavrov's concerns, Simonyan stated that his colleague Ararat Mirzoyan had responded to Lavrov, and he had nothing further to add.
