Earlier, on May 4th, Trump held talks in Riyadh with Syria’s interim leader Ahmad al-Sharaa, marking the first meeting between leaders of the two countries in 25 years. The American leader stated that Washington will begin lifting the decades-long restrictions imposed on Damascus during the administrations of Hafez al-Assad and his son Bashar al-Assad.
