Iran's Foreign Minister: We Are Forced to Act Independently
The U.S. must exclude further attacks against Iran if it wishes to resume diplomatic efforts. This was stated by Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi in an interview with the BBC.
According to him, the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has communicated through intermediaries its desire to return to the negotiating table, but has not clarified its position on the very important issue of further attacks.
Takht-Ravanchi also stated that Iran will insist on the possible enrichment of uranium for peaceful purposes and denied reports suggesting that the country secretly aims to create a nuclear bomb.
“The level of enrichment can be discussed, the volumes can be discussed, but to say that you should not enrich uranium and that you must have zero enrichment, and if you disagree, we will bomb you—this is the law of the jungle,” he said.
According to the Deputy Minister, Iran has been denied “access to nuclear materials” for its research program, which is why it is forced to “act independently.”
