Iranian senior officials are waiting for Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to approve the start of negotiations with the United States, according to a report by The Jerusalem Post, citing a source.

"Iran's senior officials are awaiting the green light from Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei to initiate talks with the Trump administration," the report states.

On June 28, it was reported that the U.S. special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Vitiello, would conduct negotiations with Iran's nuclear envoy in the coming days.
