They Cannot Enter the Territory of Our Country's Nuclear Facilities: Iranian Ambassador
The Iranian ambassador and permanent representative to the UN, Amir-Saeed Iravani, has stated that IAEA inspectors are currently unable to access Iran's nuclear facilities, according to Mehr news agency.
Ambassador Iravani emphasized that Iran continues to assert that uranium enrichment should occur on its own territory. He clarified that while regional cooperation, including the creation of a consortium, could complement Iran's nuclear activities, it would never replace Iran's sovereign right to maintain its domestic production capabilities.
He highlighted that Iran remains committed to peaceful resolution and its obligations under the Non-Proliferation Treaty, striving only for the preservation of rights granted to all responsible members. “We seek no more and no less than the rights granted to all other parties to the treaty. According to the treaty, each state has the right to research, produce, and use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. Therefore, we intend to realize all three components of this right, particularly the right to domestic production,” the Iranian ambassador said.
The ambassador also referred to Iran's recently adopted parliamentary bill to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). He explained that this legally binding step was a direct response to the IAEA's failure to fulfill its obligations, notably its silence regarding illegal attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran's nuclear facilities.
