The Future of Russia Lies in Its Development, Says Putin

The future of Russia, among other things, lies in the development of the Arctic, which is receiving significant attention. This was noted by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who recalled the words of Mikhail Lomonosov that Russia will "grow together with Siberia."

“Earlier, everyone would repeat the famous scientist's words, which stated that the future of Russia is in Siberia. But now it is evident that, among other aspects, and perhaps in a broader sense, the future of Russia lies in the development of the Arctic, which we are actively beginning to develop,” emphasized the head of state during the opening of youth centers in Russian regions via video link.

“How can we develop the Arctic without people? Of course, modern technologies allow for working on a rotational basis and with the help of those who carry out specific tasks. But still, despite the harsh conditions, it is necessary to have a permanent population in these challenging climatic conditions,” he said.

Putin added that in order to ensure the ability of the population to live in the Arctic, it is necessary to create favorable conditions for them, including in creative fields, without which “a modern person can no longer live.”
