Environment Ministry Responds to Reports of Dangerous Waste Export in Armenia

The Ministry of Environment of Armenia has stated that no nuclear fuel waste has been transported to the country. This statement was made to refute information published in the media.

“The article titled ‘French Company Orano Secretly Transports Nuclear Fuel Waste to Armenia, to be Stored in One of the National Parks’ contains entirely false information and does not correspond to reality. We urge everyone to refrain from disseminating information from unverified and unknown sources and to responsibly approach the accuracy of published materials,” the ministry said in a statement.

Incidentally, the media report claimed that the ‘Orano’ company is exporting hazardous waste to Armenia, which is financed by a fund connected to the Prime Minister. The topic has also been addressed and denied by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, his spokesperson Nazeli Baghdasaryan, and several members of the ruling Civil Contract party through their Facebook posts.
