Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Responds Firmly

Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ayhan Hajiyev has commented on the accusations made by Mehdi Sobhani, the ambassador of Iran to Armenia, regarding the alleged use of Azerbaijani territory against Iran.

"We categorically reject the unfounded and provocative accusations made by Iran's ambassador to the Republic of Armenia, Mehdi Sobhani, regarding the alleged use of Azerbaijani territory for attacks by Israeli drones against the Islamic Republic of Iran," Hajiyev stated.

It is reported that these claims disrupt the relations between Azerbaijan and Iran, which are based on mutual respect for each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as non-interference in internal affairs.

"Given the position explained by the President of Azerbaijan during a recent phone conversation with the President of Iran, as well as the phone call between the foreign minister and his counterpart, we assess the ambassador's statements as an obvious provocation. The Republic of Azerbaijan categorically denies the claims that its airspace or territory is being used by any state for military operations against the neighboring Islamic Republic of Iran or any other country. Such accusations are baseless, and there is no credible evidence to substantiate them.

We expect Iran to refrain from such actions that do not correspond to the spirit of our relations and to take necessary measures regarding the opinions expressed by the ambassador, who regularly exhibits a pro-Armenian stance instead of representing his country," he added.
