India Terminates Water Treaty with Pakistan

India has terminated the water treaty signed with Pakistan. Indian Home Minister Amit Shah announced that the Indus River water treaty with Pakistan will not be restored. According to him, resources previously allocated to Pakistan will now be utilized for the needs of India's Rajasthan state.

"This treaty was signed in the name of peace and progress between the two countries, but when those principles are violated, there is nothing left to protect," emphasized the minister.

It should be noted that the treaty in question was signed in 1960 with the mediation of the World Bank. It regulated the distribution of waters from the largest rivers in the Indus River basin between India and Pakistan.
