Russia and Iran are fighting the same forces, Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that both Iran and Russia face threats from fundamentally the same forces that oppose the idea of securing the legitimate interests of both countries.

"We are already conducting combat operations against those whom we consider the opponents of the ideas we defend, and those who create threats to the Russian Federation. And these are mostly the same forces. In Iran, as well as in Russia, it is the same; those forces operate even further back, in the rear. But they are not even those who are in the combat contact line," he said.
