Peskov Expresses Regret Over Pashinyan's Decision
“Of course, it’s unfortunate, but Armenia will still participate via videoconference. Armenia is a member of the EAEU, an important member, and its membership in the EAEU reliably increases the growth of Armenia’s economy by several percent each year,” said Peskov to reporters.
Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia, expressed regret that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will not attend the Eurasian Economic Union summit in Minsk.
According to him, Armenia is receiving significant dividends for its national economy from its membership in the EAEU.
It should be noted that tensions between Yerevan and Minsk arose following the Belarusian president's evaluations regarding the outcomes of the Nagorno-Karabakh war. Later, Pashinyan stated that the Belarusian leader effectively admitted to providing assistance to Azerbaijan and prohibited officials from traveling to Belarus while Alexander Lukashenko remains in power there. Yerevan has also recalled its ambassador.
