Kremlin Preacher Makes False Claims About Electric Networks

A number of Armenian media outlets are actively disseminating an article by Kremlin preacher Andrey Areshyev regarding Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's upcoming visit to Turkey on June 20.

The preacher connects the event to the arrest of Russian businessman Samvel Karapetyan and earlier statements made by Pashinyan about the nationalization of the 'Armenian Electric Networks' CJSC.

According to Fip.am, Turkish organizations are interested in acquiring Armenia's energy networks.

Areshyev has claimed that the main intermediary is member of parliament Khachatour Sukiasyan from the 'Civil Contract' faction.

The 'Fact-Checking Platform' found no evidence in open sources, including the online resources of the mentioned Turkish company, to support Areshyev's claims. The company has not publicly shown interest in energy projects in Armenia.

Moreover, the information has also been denied by Khachatour Sukiasyan's press secretary, who called it nonsense. The article was published on a well-known Kremlin propaganda platform. The thesis was first circulated by the Armenian opposition.
