Iran Warns Residents of Tel Aviv
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran has warned residents of part of Tel Aviv about the necessity to evacuate. The warning has been disseminated by Iranian news agencies. This was reported by BBC.
Shortly beforehand, the Israeli army issued a similar warning to Iranian residents through social media, stating that it was preparing to strike military targets in a specific area of Tehran.
The IRGC also announced that it has established complete control over Israeli airspace. This statement has been released by Russian news agencies TASS and RIA. According to BBC, the IRGC’s rationale for claiming full control over Israeli airspace is based on Iran’s recent missile strikes against Israel.
Yesterday evening, the Israeli Defense Forces reported that Iran had fired approximately 25 missiles in two phases within an hour. There are no detailed reports on the consequences at the scene. Overnight, the Israeli Air Force intercepted three unmanned aerial vehicles launched from Iran towards Israeli territory. Two were shot down in the Dead Sea area, while one fell in Northern Israel.
Tehran has promised to carry out a ‘revenge operation,’ and the strikes that have occurred thus far were intended to warn and deter Israel.
The U.S. State Department has announced that, for security reasons, the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem as well as American consulates in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv will be closed for several days.
