Investigative Committee Provides Details on Samvel Karapetyan's Case
The Investigative Committee of Armenia's chief department for examining crimes against the state, constitutional order, and public safety has initiated a criminal case based on a report regarding Samvel Karapetyan.
According to the report, during an interview with mass media, Karapetyan made public calls aimed at seizing power in a manner not provided by the Constitution of Armenia, thereby infringing upon the authorities of the Armenian Government.
This information was shared with Auroranews by Kim Avdalyan, the spokesperson for the Investigative Committee.
“On June 18, 2025, a motion was submitted to the prosecutor responsible for overseeing the legality of the criminal proceedings, requesting the initiation of public criminal prosecution. In connection with this, a decision was made on the same day to initiate public criminal prosecution against Samvel Karapetyan based on Article 422, Part 2 of the Armenian Criminal Code. On June 18, 2025, Mr. K. was arrested and presented to the conducting authority. A motion has been filed to the court regarding the application of detention as a measure of restraint against him,” the statement said.
