This Proposal Remains on the Table: Peskov
Russia is ready to act as a mediator in the conflict resolution between Israel and Iran, announced Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, according to an RBC correspondent.
Peskov was asked whether discussions regarding mediation were anticipated. “You know that Putin has had several important phone conversations in the last few days,” he said. “We see that the international community is divided into camps—those condemning what is happening and those supporting it. We note this,” he emphasized.
At the same time, as reported by TASS, Peskov stated that the proposal to store Iranian uranium in Russia remains valid, although the situation around Iran's nuclear program has become more complicated with the onset of military operations. “This proposal remains on the table. It is still relevant. But, of course, with the start of military operations, the situation has seriously complicated,” Peskov said.
Israel and Iran have been exchanging strikes since the night of June 13. Israel initiated the operation based on information that Iran is close to developing nuclear weapons (as stated by the Israel Defense Forces, Tehran has enough resources to create 15 nuclear bombs).
