The Situation in the Middle East Raises Deep Concerns, Says Russian Foreign Ministry

There is no alternative to the political-diplomatic resolution of the conflict between Israel and Iran, including the issue of the nuclear program, and there cannot be one. This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov.

"We have noted that the planned indirect contact phase in Oman will not take place given the current situation. We believe that there is no alternative to a political-diplomatic path and there cannot be one. The situation, of course, speaks for itself today; it is extremely difficult and raises deep concerns," he said.

According to the deputy foreign minister, the Israeli expectation that such strikes could eliminate both nuclear infrastructure and other sources of concern, as can be discerned from the feelings of Israeli leaders and military personnel, is unfounded.
