Price Increase in Armenia: Which Food Products Have Become More Expensive

In 10 surveyed communities of the Republic, consumer prices increased by 0.1-1.2% in May 2025 compared to April 2025, with relatively higher inflation recorded in the city of Gyumri, while one area reported a 0.1% deflation. In the capital, consumer prices increased by 0.1%. This information was reported by the 'Zhoghovurd' newspaper.

In May 2025, compared to May 2024, a 7.4% inflation in food and non-alcoholic beverages was recorded in the Republic, and a 0.5% increase was observed compared to April 2025.

In 9 surveyed communities in May 2025, compared to April 2025, prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 0.3-2.8%, with relatively higher inflation noted in Gyumri, while the cities of Yerevan and Hrazdan experienced a 0.1% deflation.

The price of pasta increased by 3.2% in May 2025 compared to May 2024, bread prices rose by 3.9%, and flour prices grew by 6.9%. Compared to April 2025, these prices increased by 2.6%, 0.7%, and 1.6%, respectively.

In May 2025, the Republic noted an increase in the prices of beef, pork, and lamb by 0.8%, 1.1%, and 2.9%, respectively, and compared to April 2025, the increases were 0.1%, 1.0%, and 0.5%.

The prices of margarine and butter in May 2025 saw an increase of 0.3% and 13.1%, respectively, compared to May 2024, while the comparison to April 2025 showed increases of 0.9% and 0.2%.

In May 2025, the price of ice cream rose by 4.0% compared to May 2024, chocolate by 14.1%, coffee by 14.9%, and cocoa by 20.9%. Against April 2025, increases were noted at 3.0%, 0.9%, 0.3%, and 1.0%, respectively.

In the sugar and sugar substitutes category, prices decreased by 3.1% in May 2025 compared to May 2024, while a 0.6% inflation was recorded compared to April 2025.

The price of eggs decreased by 4.3% in May 2025 compared to May 2024, while compared to April 2025, there was a 0.4% decrease.

In May 2025, a 7.1% decrease in buckwheat prices was noted compared to May 2024, with a 0.7% decrease compared to April 2025.

The price of sturgeon fish rose by 22.1% in May 2025 compared to May 2024, while a 0.1% deflation was recorded compared to April 2025.

In May 2025, sunflower oil prices increased by 15.2% compared to May 2024, while there was a 0.1% deflation compared to April 2025.

In the vegetable category, a 29.0% inflation was observed in May 2025 compared to May 2024, while a 0.2% deflation was noted compared to April 2025.
