This Region Will Turn into a Huge Nagorno-Karabakh, Medinsky Says
If the conflict in Ukraine ceases at the front line without a real peace agreement, this region will transform into a huge Nagorno-Karabakh, which Ukraine will eventually attempt to reclaim with its NATO allies, leading to a potential nuclear war. This was stated by Vladimir Medinsky, assistant to the President of Russia and head of the Russian delegation in the Istanbul talks.
“A ceasefire with Kyiv without a full peace treaty may lead to new escalations. It will be, you know, a disputed territory between Armenia and Azerbaijan, namely Nagorno-Karabakh; this region will turn into a ‘huge Nagorno-Karabakh.’ Moscow does not want a ‘huge Nagorno-Karabakh’ that no one recognizes, which could trigger a nuclear war,” Medinsky said in an interview with American RT journalist Rick Sanchez on the show ‘The Sanchez Effect.’
“We don’t want to have a huge Nagorno-Karabakh that no one recognizes, which could lead to a nuclear war. Therefore, we want to stop, conclude a full peace agreement, and recognize the new territories,” Medinsky added.
